How to Look After our Plants
Looking after your Black Eyed Susan
These instructions are sent with the plant gift
Thunbergia Alata, or Black Eyed Susan are originally from Kenya and Uganda but they will also thrive in a conservatory, or a well-lit room in the UK.
In milder parts your Black Eyed Susan will be happy to spend the summer on a patio or balcony – but they are not hardy and need to be brought indoors in the Autumn. Make sure your plant gets plenty of light, by putting it near a window in a bright warm room or conservatory.
Over the summer you should cut off dead flowers to encourage more buds and blooms and train the plant upwards – it is a climber by nature. As the plant puts on more growth, it can be repotted into a larger pot with rich potting compost.
Brown edges or tips to the leaves is a sure sign of scorching, try moving back from any window glass to a slightly less sunny spot.
