How to Look After our Plants
Looking after your Salad Leaves
These instructions are sent with the plant gift
Salad leaves are usually grown outside, but young plants are quite happy indoors if you follow a few simple tips.
Like most plants, your salad leaves need sunlight. A sunny windowsill or a cool bright room is best. Try to keep them away from any radiators and their leaves from contact with the glass, where they may get scorched or chilled.
To get the most from your salad leaves, use leaves fresh as and when required and when finished plant outside for cut and come again greens throughout the Summer. In the garden choose a sheltered spot, alternatively plants will do well in window box or even in pots on a patio. Water regularly and pinch out any seed heads to prolong the life of your plants.
Salad leaves are generally very robust plants. However sometimes their fragrant leaves can be bruised in transit. If you notice any crushed or damaged leaves, nip these off to add flavour to your evening dinner and encourage new growth.
