Primrose day is celebrated on the 19 April, when primrose flowers are placed on Benjamin Disraeli's statue in Westminster Abbey. They were his favourite flower, and Queen Victoria regularly sent him bunches of flowers from Windsor and Osborne House. After his death in 1881 Primrose Day was inaugurated and the custom has continued ever since.

How to Look After our Plants
Looking after your Primulas and Primroses
These instructions are sent with the plant gift
Primulas are woodland plants. They need some light, but you should avoid too much direct sunlight which will scorch the young leaves.
A north, west or east facing windowsill is ideal, not too close to the glass and away from any radiators.
Keep pinching out the flowers as they fade to encourage the young buds. When all the flowers are over why not plant out in the garden or a window box for next year?
If the leaves or flowers start to droop, water thoroughly immediately and they should recover.
