How to Look After our Plants
Looking after your Early Clematis
These instructions are sent with the plant gift
Clematis is really a garden plant, but this variety will do well in a pot in a cool room or conservatory while it is in flower.
A cool windowsill, conservatory or porch is the ideal spot for your Clematis at the moment. The cooler the room, the longer the flowers will last. After flowering, you can plant your clematis out in the garden in a sheltered spot next to a wall or fence. Its roots should be cool and planted deep and the new shoots should grow freely towards the light. It will reward you with early flowers every spring.
If possible try to avoid particularly warm rooms and direct sunlight which may dry out the young leaves. If you are in a warm part of Britain you can put your Clematis straight outside in a sheltered spot – try to avoid wind and frost because this plant has been raised inside and the leaves are young and tender. Clematis like peaty (acid) soil and are vigorous climbers.
