Bottle Brush plants Callistemon citrinus are native to Australia but do surprisingly well in a sunny spot in the UK. They are evergreen, and valued for their long-lasting red flowers in early summer.
Your plant will be fine in their plastic pot for a while but will eventually do best either in a really large pot on a patio or in the ground.
Choose a sunny sheltered spot where you will be able to enjoy the bright red blooms. The plant will enjoy full sun, but at the same time the soil needs to be moist but well-drained. Neutral soil is fine.
The plant will be fine in the milder parts of the UK and will survive some frost, but if the temperature falls below -5 degrees it will need protection.
