Heucheras are easy going garden plants that will do well in a shady spot outside. Their foliage will add welcome colour all year round.

Your Heuchera can be grown in a container or planted out in the garden, they make a nice addition to a border. Heuchera do best in partial/dappled shade, somewhere with well-draining soil.

If planting out, keep your plant well-watered during its first growing season whilst it is establishing. After this, your plant shouldn’t need extra watering, unless there is a spell of particularly hot/dry weather. If keeping your Heuchera in a container, the compost will dry out more quickly and so it will need regular watering. Aim to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. When watering, be careful not to wet the leaves as this can damage your plant and lead to rotting.

Problem Solving:

Old foliage and spent flowers should be removed to keep the plant healthy, especially if kept in a pot. Don’t be surprised if your plant doesn’t look too bushy in the summer months when it is resting – it will soon come back with more growth and flowers in the autumn.
