A super and unusual gift for a gin lover. It comes with one of our large sloe bushes which are well branched and really strong plants as well as a free miniature bottle of Sloemotion Sloe Gin to enjoy whilst waiting on the next batch of fruits. Being deciduous the trees have dropped their leaves for the winter hibernation now.
65cm+ tall including a 2L pot
This funky gift set includes a strong 2 year old sloe bush plus a miniature bottle of sloe gin.

Sloe (also known as blackthorn) is a native hedgerow tree. It will reward you with spring flowers and autumn berries for many years to come.

Sloe bushes are very easy going and grow well in a variety of soils and positions. They are completely frost hardy but it’s probably best to wait until the spring to plant out your young sapling. Choose a well-drained sunny site for the best berries and remember to water in well and for the first few weeks after planting.

Whilst in a small pot they will need regular watering but they grow quickly so when you are ready they could be potted on into a larger pot or planted out directly into the ground. These are native trees and even when young are very hardy.

Long term you might decide to prune the plant into the shape suitable for your garden. You can leave as a large bush, or you can remove the lower branches, so it becomes a little tree. Why not clip it back just before the flower buds open, and bring the prunings inside to open in a vase? The white flowers on the dark bare branches are one of the first signs of spring.

Sloe berries make delicious sloe gin and jellies.

Sloe trees are deciduous so don’t be alarmed when your plant looses its leaves in the winter.
