How We Prepare, Package, and Ship Our Plant Gifts

When you’re sending a plant as a gift to a loved one, it must not only leave us in good condition, but arrive in perfect shape, too.

We take great care at every step of the way to ensure our plants arrives safely and in great condition.

Plant Preparation

We choose to sell only robust plants and varieties that we trust will travel well.

When you choose a plant with us, a real person will select the very nicest plant for you from all the plants available at the nursery. They'll always choose plants with the best stage of flowers or fruits, that are looking nice with a good overall shape.

Because we specialise in gifts our standards are really high, so if we are not happy with the shape or presentation of a plant when we go to pick, we'll occasionally contact you to offer you an alternative, or to advise you that they are at a different stage of flowering or fruiting than first advertised. Before any plant goes to the packing line it also has to go through a quality control check where our trained plant lovers will check your plant over for any pests or problems and give each plant an overall tidy up and water before going through to despatch.

At this stage we hand tie a biodegradable starch based bag around each plant pot in order to secure the soil and moisture during transit, guaranteeing that the plant’s roots will be protected with soil throughout the shipping process and ensuring that soil remains suitably humid.

Packaging your plant order

Our plants are carefully wrapped by hand in soft tissue paper and craft paper to protect their delicate flowers and fruits with extra paper void fill to minimise any movement of the plant within the box during its journey. We use additional corrugated packaging in winter for particularly sensitive plants such as orchids and poinsettias to keep them warm in transit and our team make it their mission to pack each and every plant carefully and in the best way for that plant.

Each plant is carefully packed into a specially designed plant box of the appropriate size, with side openings for our larger plants and snug internal fittings to keep the plant stable in transit.

Sustainability is crucial to us; all of the packaging we use is fully recyclable and plastic free. Just leave our packaging with your curb side recycling or even add it to your compost bin.

Plant Shipping

Over the years, we have continually tweaked our packaging and processes to bring damages to an absolute minimum and we are very proud to have less than 0.5% damage rates. Even our most fragile plants such as orchid terrariums, Frangipani, and planted arrangements with loose soil are consistently received in perfect condition. With over 20 years of experience sending plants, we work hard to ensure our plants arrive in flawless condition every time.

Every plant is sent on a fragile overnight service with either DPD or Royal Mail. Whilst the specific delivery option is your own choice, our default delivery service will provide you with delivery updates by text or email, depending on your preference, including a delivery timeslot and a confirmation of delivery once the parcel has arrived. When you choose to order from us, you can always rest assured that your gift is in safe hands.
