These little fir trees or picea will be happiest outdoors in the garden or in a large pot on a patio or balcony.
While your conifer is in a small pot, young trees will need watering regularly during dry spells.
Fir trees are reasonably quick growers and if re-potted every spring or summer they can put on up to a foot of growth a year. As they already have a neat shape they shouldn’t require any pruning but some kind of feed would be a good idea if you are unable to repot them.
Problem Solving:
Fir trees are very tough trees that require little maintenance.
In the spring and summer your plant should begin to put on new leaves, don’t worry if they are a lighter colour than the existing leaves, they will colour up over a few weeks.
These little trees still have strong roots, and they shouldn’t drop their needles. If you do see any needle drop it is a sign that your plant is either too hot or dry and so do water straight away and move to a cooler spot.
