Wherever possible we use sustainable materials and processes to protect the natural environment for future generations.
As part of that commitment all our packaging is either recyclable or biodegradable and we are working hard to increase the range of plants available in biodegradable pots too, making them completely 'Plastic Free'.
Now, more than ever, we want to do everything we can to protect our planet.
All our plants come wrapped with natural raffia, biodegradable bags and recycled or sustainably sourced paper. The greeting cards and cardboard boxes are all made from recycled paper too and even the document wallets are biodegradable.
We are working hard to make more of our plants completely plastic free. They have the added benefit being repotted here at the nursery as needed into completely biodegradable 'vipots'. Made from waste rice, bamboo and corn husks these pots will last up to 5 years intact but can be broken up and will naturally breakdown in the compost heap after use.
We have some classic house plants like spider plant and a garden stalwart the juniper tree in vipots.
We strongly believe in working with the natural environment, not against it.
We heat our glasshouses with a biomass boiler only using wood pellets that are recycled from sustainable and registered sources. We also have a small reservoir here too to collect rainwater - much better for environment and the plants. Wherever possible, we source our plants from the UK to minimise our carbon footprint.
You can find out more about how we pack your plants and run the nursery as sustainably as possible here.
